Two-Day Vocal Training Course

2-Day Masterclass

About the Course

The two-day vocal training masterclass is a practical insight into the three Estill vocal training modules, Craft, Artistry and Performance. This two-day overview will help you to explore your talent and give you an insight into how VTUK can help you to become a better singer and performer.

This singing course will give you a greater understanding into how the voice works, how to control it and how to apply your new-found skills to build upon your existing skills and knowledge. Both days will be based around a masterclass session which will teach you about the anatomy and physiology of the voice to help you to understand which elements can be adjusted, how to adjust them and the impact this can have upon the voice.

You’ll refine your skills and unleash a talent you never knew you had.

Making sounds

We will look at the basic ‘ingredients’ of sound production – breath pressure, resistance, support, muscle effort. In doing so, you will understand how to control the essentials of voice – pitch, tone, volume, timbre. You will be encouraged to make sounds in as natural, efficient and healthy a way as possible.

You will learn:
Primal sounds – simple ‘triggers’ to set up your voice
Body alignment – how to stand and move
Breathing for singers – making it efficient and flexible
Voice production – controlling vocal fold vibration
Intensity – balancing breath and voice
Projection – adding ‘cutting edge’

Refining sounds

We will explain how you can refine those basic sounds by shaping tone, volume and resonance. We will then look at how we combine the basic ‘ingredients’ into different voice qualities, each of which is considered appropriate for a different musical genre.

You will learn:
Microphone technique – basics of using a mic
Connecting with your audience
Songwriting basics
Vocal health – looking after your ‘instrument’
Performance anxiety – how to overcome your nerves

Applying sounds

Having covered Craft and Artistry, the Performance module puts it all together. We will show you how VTUK can take you from a proficient voice user into a professional standard performer.

You will learn:
Microphone technique – basics of using a mic
Connecting with your audience
Songwriting basics
Vocal health – looking after your ‘instrument’
Performance anxiety – how to overcome your nerves
